Fuel Sensor (Integrated Suction / Return Tube)
Overview

Overview of the Fuel Sensor (Integrated Suction / Return Tube)

As fuel rises or falls, the float and arm move a resistive element. That resistance is what the dash gauge reads. The mechanism is simple, which is why swing-arm tank units remain common on automotive programmes: low cost, straightforward install, and a known interface to VDO, GM, Ford, Stewart Warner, and similar gauge curves. Construction is rugged. Sensors are pre-calibrated rather than field-adjusted like the adjustable FLS family.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Swing arm fuel level sensors from Indication Instruments (Veethree) are float type fuel sensors / tank units. A float on an arm changes resistance as fuel level changes; the dash gauge reads that resistance.

Adjustable sensors are set for tank depth in the field (7-24"). Swing-arm automotive fuel level sensors are typically pre-calibrated to a specific tank and gauge curve.

Standard curves include VDO, GM, Ford, and Stewart Warner, plus OEM custom curves.

Yes. Integrated-tube tank units can include suction and return.

Yes. A solid float design is specified to reduce leak risk.
