Reed Switch

Reed switch fuel level sensor with corrosion-resistant construction, long service life, and multi-fuel compatibility

Reed Switch
Overview

Overview of the Reed Switch

Reed switch sensors measure tank height with a magnetic float and a ladder of reed switches on the stem. As the float moves, switches close in sequence and the resistance seen by the gauge changes. There are no sliding electrical contacts on the resistor card, which is the main reliability difference versus a classic swing-arm tank unit. The design suits petrol, diesel, oil, and hydraulic fluids, with selectable resistance curves for standard gauges.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Reed switch fuel level sensors from Indication Instruments (Veethree) are fuel tank level sensors. A magnetic float on a stem actuates reed switches to produce a resistance the gauge can read.

Swing-arm units wipe a resistive track. Reed switch sensors have no moving electrical contacts, which helps in slosh, vibration, and long life.

Standard lengths from 6" to 32", plus custom lengths.

Stewart Warner, VDO, Ford, GM, and custom OEM curves.

SS 304 body, IP67, -40°C to +85°C, 12 V / 24 V systems.
